Volunteers are wanted to track wolverines this winter in Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks.
Researchers need some adventurous people to ski difficult terrains, and trap hair samples from the animals.
Senior wildlife research scientist Tony Clevenger says the idea is to collect information on the status of wolverines in the national parks and determine the affects of the Trans-Canada Highway on their movement.
Clevenger tells The Calgary Herald people are often fascinated with wolverines, and they rely on that to get volunteers.
In the 2010- 2011 season, the research team of over 50 skied more than 2,000 kilometres.
