While there are still many obstacles in Lindsay Vonn’s mission to compete against men in world cup downhill ski action next weekend, Alpine Canada is taking a big interest.

President Max Gartner says they plan on inviting Vonn back to Lake Louise next December for an exhibition where she could compete against the best male skiers on the planet.

He’s also working on getting Vonn’s sponsor, Red Bull, on board.

Vonn asked the FIS, the international ski federation, for permission to ski against the men this weekend at Lake Louise, but they flat out denied the request.

Canadian skier Erik Guay tells The Calgary Herald the decision is a little short-sighted, and the competition could bring loads of PR to the sport.
