The gloves are off between the Alberta Tories and the Wildrose just days into the second half of the fall sitting in the legislature.
But Lori Williams, University of Calgary political scientist says the task of an opposition party with a new premier that’s making changes is incredibly challenging.
“It’s not surprise that the Wildrose is casting around for possibilities because this government to some degree is responding to many of the criticisms that led to the rise of the Wildrose in the first place,” says Williams. “If they cut that foundation out from under the Wildrose, they’re just going to have to find something else that will resonate with Albertans.”
Williams adds, if the Wildrose want to make an impact in the decision making regarding provincial changes, Danielle Smith will need to stick to one message for Albertans to digest.
