To gift card or not to gift card? That is the question for many this holiday season.

Shopping and etiquette expert, Cindy Kelly from flyerland.ca, tells 660News people have come a long way from the days gift cards were considered tacky and impersonal.

“You’re really giving them the gift of getting exactly what they want. The other thing is, there are so many way to personalize them,” says Kelly. “You can wrap them nicely, put them in a little box with a special note or offer to take maybe a senior, a parent, an aunt out, with that gift card to help them choose something.”

Kelly says it’s okay to crow about the great deals you get, because it’s become part of our culture to celebrate thrifty shopping.
