The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has suspended the operation licence of another Alberta meat-packing plant because of food safety concerns.
The CFIA has determined adequate controls for food safety are not being reliably met at Capital Packers Inc. in Edmonton as of Thursday.
The agency is also conducting a food safety investigation to determine if products shipped from the plant pose risks, particularly related to listeria contamination.
Capital Packers won’t be able to resume operations until they have fully implemented corrective actions.
