Alberta’s Parks and Recreation Minister is saying no to charging skiers in Kananaskis country to use the trails.
The idea was suggested by some provincial officials looking to make up for the cost of maintenance.
But Christine Cusanelli says it’s not something she sees happening in the foreseeable future.
The Calgary Herald reports many outdoor enthusiasts criticized the idea, saying it wouldn’t fly with cross country skiers.
This isn’t the first time the proposal has been put forward; a fee schedule was instituted back in 2004, but was quickly scrapped when met with opposition from skiers.
Kananaskis skiers won’t be paying any time soon
