A man will likely be facing a charge of assault after a fight broke out in the northeast.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the Marlborough Community Centre where a fight broke out and one man was stabbed.

Duty Inspector Patty McCallum says the victim was sent to hospital, but the injuries weren’t serious and later released.

“One offender was taken into custody and it’s likely that he’ll be charged with one count of assault with a weapon,” she said.

Police have spoken to several witnesses, but it’s not clear exactly what caused the fight.
