With the sky clearing and no snow expected to fall in the next few days, Calgary roads continue to clear streets after the dumping of snow we received.
Around 80 pieces of equipment were deployed Friday night as city road crews try to get a handle on main thorough fares
Peter Jacoby with the City, said overnight, crews continued to plow Priority 1 and 2 roadways and says they’re all mostly clear aside from a little bit of snow on the secondary streets.
“Drivers should see the priority ones really decent, very passable, no winter driving applies, but people should be able to get around quickly and safely,” Jacoby said.
He added, crews shovelled bus stops and LRT stations where snow has piled up.
Most of the main routes are clear following this week’s big snowstorm, but they are still very slippery.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey said altough there haven’t been any injuries, police are busy dealing with crashes.
“The sun being out is misleading people into thinking that the roads are much better than they are, but the fact of the matter is, they’re still very cold,” he said. “The roads are staying icy and the fact that people are misled is causing them to drive, maybe not as cautiously as they should.”
Calgarians are reminded a parking ban does go into effect Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as crews prepare to start an attack on side and residential streets.
