Transit users will have to wait a little while longer to use a tap card to get on a city bus or C-Train.

City Transit has cancelled the contract it had with a supplier, saying the company didn’t meet it’s requirements or timelines.

“The City has sent a clear message to all of its suppliers that they must meet the expectations and standards set in the contract,” says Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “While we apologize for the delay in rolling this out to customers, we have to get this right.”

The city is now in the process of looking for another company that can provide the electronic fare collection system.
