What you see is what you get, for the next couple days.

Calgary is under a snowfall warning and it’s not expected to let up until Saturday.

Meteorologist David Spence is tracking the storm that’s coming up from Montana and says 10 to 15 centimetres will fall overnight in the city and that’s not the end of it.

At least another 5 centimetres will also fall tomorrow.

But, even with as much as 25 centimetres expected the city says there will be no snow route parking ban until at least Sunday.

Jennifer Thompson-Goldberg from the city roads department says pre-scheduled maintenance on their computer servers could prevent them from ensuring the right information gets out to the public.

“It’s just a matter of being able to get the information out in a timely manner, and having information available in real time,” she explains, “and there would be the possibility of some lag in that.”

She says the city will also be doing maintenance next week and in early December that will prevent a snow ban from being put in place.

Thompson-Goldberg says right now they are mostly sanding city streets, but when snow starts to accumulate they will be plowing.

As of Thursday afternoon, Enmax is not reporting any snow-related power outages.

Most of us may be cursing the snow storm, but it’s a boon for private snow removal companies.

Christine with Shovelled Walk tells 660News, they’ve been getting a few desperate phone calls from people who need their sidewalks and driveways cleared.

“They want us to start now, but our problem is we’re no longer able to take new customers because we’re fully booked.” she says.

She says the early snow storm last month caught them still doing summer clean up work.

Staff had to pull out shovels, instead of rakes and get going sooner than expected.

If you’re flying out of the airport over the next few days, give yourself lots of extra time.

Spokeswoman Jody Mosely tells 660News, unlike many other international airports they’re always prepared for snow and ice.

“Things are going well. We have procedures in place with our airlines so that we can be prepared for weather events like this.”

But, Mosely says there will probably be some delays as a result of the weather, so its always best to check the airline or its website for flight arrival and departure times.
