Police are worried about the escalation of violence in a trio of bank robberies, and are turning to the public for help in catching the culprit.
The heists happened between January 13 and February 6 of this year.
In Calgary, the RBC at 5717 Signal Hill Centre S.W. and the Scotiabank located on Uxbridge Drive N.W. were hit, along with the ATB Financial in Crossfield.
In the most recent incident, the man fired a shot into a wall when he didn’t get what he wanted.
Staff Sgt. Bruce Walker says luckily, nobody was hurt.
“Looking back over the last 20-25 years, I have yet to find a case where a round was actually discharged inside of a financial institution,” he says. “That causes me concern as this is probably the highest form of aggressive behaviour you can have.”
The suspect is described as Caucasian, in his mid-30′s, between 140 and 160 lbs., with a slim build. He was scruffy in appearance with medium length brown hair, a day’s growth and overgrown goatee. In some cases, he was wearing sunglasses and black leather gloves.
