A video posted on Mayor Naheed Nenshi’s personal website Wednesday showed the mayor talking to volunteers saying he will be running in the 2013 municipal election.
“I’m in, and I am I with everything I’ve got. I’m in because I still love this city, if possible, even more than I did two years ago. And I’m in because together we have the opportunity to build something even better, that better Calgary is right there. It’s so close, it’s well within our grasp and we all have a duty to be able to go and grab it,” said Nenshi in the video.
Nenshi was first voted into office in October, 2010, becoming the first Muslim mayor of a major centre in Canada, upsetting front runners former Alderman Ric McIver and former CTV News anchor Barb Higgins.
Nenshi will seek re-election in 2013
