The son of a man found dead near Innisfail has been charged with killing his father.
RCMP has charged 31-year-old Aaron Guilbault with second degree murder.
His father, 58-year-old Timothy Guilbault was found dead in his residence in Red Lodge Estates Monday afternoon.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday in Calgary where it was determined the Calgary businessman and former Red Deer alderman was a victim of homicide.
RCMP are not releasing the cause of death but say it’s clear Tim Guilbault was the victim of a homicide.
His 31-year-old son Aaron Guilbault is charged with second degree murder, and police can’t say why that’s not a first degree charge.
Guilbault made his first court appearance in Red Deer today, and police say he’s not being uncooperative.
They caught up with him just a few hours after his father’s body was found in the family cabin.
He was driving his dead father’s vehicle in Stettler when he was taken into custody.
The RCMP say the victim’s body was found by family members, but they won’t confirm which ones.
It was an especially tragic day for the family, as the mother of the victim also died Monday night in her nursing home.
