The man who oversees the province’s top court says Alberta is in need of more judges.

Court of Queen’s Bench Chief Justice Neil Wittmann says the system is overloaded because Alberta has fewer judges per capita than any other province or territory.

Wittmann says Calgary also has the second number of head offices in the country, leading to more civil disputes for the courts to deal with.

According to The Calgary Sun, the court is also down three judges, including a position that hasn’t been filled since June 2011.
