Kristopher ‘Tray’ Guenther made a brief court appearance by CCTV Wednesday morning.

He’s charged in the death of his 20-year-old ex girlfriend, Lacey Jones-McKnight.

The young woman was killed last week.  Police received a phone call indicating her body was being transported across the city in a car.  Another caller alerted police to a man attempting to hang himself from a bridge.

Police rescued the man who turned out to be Guenther, the body of his ex-girlfriend was found in a parked car.

Guenther is now undergoing psychiatric testing.  He’s been certified under the Mental Health Act for up to 30 days.

He appeared from the remand center Wednesday morning, but is in the custody of the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre.

He’s due back in court November 26th.

Guenther’s lawyer Mark Takada says he’s still waiting on disclosure and wants to have a look at the information to determine exactly what his client is accused of.

Guenther is facing a second degree murder charge.
