A non-profit organization called Ag For Life, which offers agricultural educational programming for youth, is expanding its scope thanks to $1.2 million in donations from its corporate partners.
Ag For Life offers four different programs for children including Little Green Thumbs, which is currently offered only in the Edmonton area.
“Our intention with Little Green Thumbs is to expand the delivery of that program, throughout Alberta, over time,” Ag For Life’s Dave Sprague tells 660News. “This is a terrific little program that is another hands on information session where children actually grow their own crops from January to June in the school.”
Ag for Life also offers educational programming for children who have never seen a farm.
“City Slickers is currently only delivered in Stony Plain, but a very, very successful program that reaches 1200 Grade 4 students from Edmonton, who actually get to visit real live farms,” adds Sprague of one of the other courses offered by his organization.
Ag For Life is holding a fundraising event, the Harvest Gala, November 3rd at the B-MO Centre.
You can find out more about that event, and the organization’s programming, at Agricultureforlife.ca.
