Canadian taxpayers are being hit in the wallet again, this time to the tune of $34 million.

According to PostMedia/The Calgary Herald, that’s the cost of adding 30 new Members of Parliament.

Documents prepared for the Democratic Reform Minister indicate it’s going to cost taxpayers $19.3 million in annual costs to pick up the annual operating costs and salaries of the MP’s.

It’s also going to cost an extra $15.2 million for the MP’s during election years.  That number is based on the actual costs of staging elections in the new ridings.

The addition of the MP’s by the Harper Government will happen in 2015.
