The mother of the young woman killed in Calgary Thursday night claims the man charged with her murder had made numerous threats to hurt her.

Shelly Jones claims her daughter had been tormented by her attacker for weeks since breaking up with him.

She says repeated complaints to police solved nothing.

The body of 20 year old Lacey Jones-McKnight was found in a car on Country Hills Boulevard west of Deerfoot Trail.

Police were called to the area after reports that a man was trying to hang himself off the overpass.

29 year old Kristopher “Tray” Guenther is now charged with second-degree murder.

At last word, he was still in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Shelly claims Guenther had terrorized her daughter and alleges he stole her car, slashed the tires on another family vehicle and even pushed his way into their home to chase Lacey, who locked herself in the bathroom.

Police say they are investigating disturbing postings on Twitter which showed a deterioration in the relationship.

In one tweet, Tray allegedly wrote ” Good bye Lacey.  I do love u but tonight u will be gone 4 good.”

Officials say how police handled the complaints about alleged violence and threats involving the couple will be part of the investigation.
