Calgary’s music community will gather Friday night to host a benefit for one of their own, after the sudden death of his wife.

They’ll try to ease the loneliness and burden for bluesman Kelly Jay, after the loss of wife of Tami Jean.

Jay is a local music legend and the gentle giant behind the classic Canadian anthem by Crowbar, “Oh, What a Feeling”.

He tells the Calgary Herald he lost his best friend after the passing of his wife of 15 years in July.

He says being left alone is the toughest part about losing her and talks about Tami Jean’s obsession with Dean Martin.

The concert will feature notable local blues and rock artists like Amos Garrett and the Eh! team, Bill Dowey, Mike Watson and Kirby Soul, just to name a few.

”The Kelly Jay Benefit All-Star Jam” happens Friday night at the Bowness Hall in the N.W.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door for $25.
