A million dollar Rocky View home and high-end vehicles are among the many items seized by officers after a lengthy investigation into organized crime.
When all was said and done, 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, cash, jewelry and weapons were seized and numerous people charged with over 100 offences.
The charged are from Rocky View, Chestermere and British Columbia.
Along with ties to the drug trade in B.C.’s Lower Mainland, investigators say this group had loose affiliations with Calgary’s gangs and is alleged to have moved and sold drugs in and around Calgary.
Officers say people also had sold their identities to this group so their names were on assets like cars and homes.
“The average Albertan may not realize how their lives are impacted every day by organized crime,” said Gerry Francois, officer in charge of CFSEU-Calgary. “From the more obvious like violence in the community, to the less obvious like increased utility and bank fees as institutions try to regain losses associated with fraud, there are countless ways our lives are touched by this criminal activity.”
