The Conference Board of Canada says almost one-third of the economic benefits of oilsands investment in the next 20-plus years will occur outside Alberta.
A board report released in Edmonton predicts most of the benefits outside the province will be in Ontario and British Columbia.
The report assesses the impact of an estimated $364 billion in investment on different regions and industry sectors in the country.
It says the cumulative investment in Canada’s oilsands has already surpassed $100 billion in the last decade.
B.C. Premier Christy Clark has said she will not support a pipeline to ship oilsands bitumen to the West Coast unless her province gets more of the economic benefits.
