While Calgary drivers may be cursing the early snowfall, Alberta’s ski resorts are embracing the flurries.

Nakiska ski resort, just west of Calgary, is gearing up for an early opening this Saturday, October 27.

Vice president of Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Matt Mosteller says they’ve already been snowmaking — but Mother Nature has really delivered.

“It is deep in the mountains, uh, there’s tons of snow up at Nakiska. We just had recent reports that overnight plus 20 centimetres of snow fell, and before that we had another storm,” said Mosteller.

Lake Louise and Sunshine ski resorts also plan to open November 9.

The ski hills just hope the weather will cooperate until opening day.
