There’s snow as far as the eye can see, as Mother Nature continues to cover southern Alberta in a thick blanket of white.
660News Meteorologist David Spence says we can expect another five centimetres of snow Tuesday, on top of the seven to eight centimetres of snow already on the ground.
Spence says it’s not unusual for us to have snow on the ground at this time of year, although last year our first blast of winter didn’t come until early November.
A full compliment of plows and sanders are travelling city streets trying to improve traction.
Mounties are urging caution for those planning a highway trip because roads are snow covered and very slippery, especially south of Calgary.
Conditions are expected to improve later in the day.
The snow doesn’t appear to be complicating operations at the airport, with planes arriving and departing pretty much on schedule; travellers are being told to give themselves a little extra time getting to and from the terminal.
So far, the city has not implemented a Snow Route parking ban; that can be declared if we get five centimetres of snow.
