A Calgary man convicted of stabbing a man to death in the city’s southeast will be released to a halfway house next month.

Henry Bosklopper is serving three years in prison for manslaughter after Douglas Young died outside a rooming house in 2009.

Officials say Bosklopper was intoxicated during the attack and believed the victim had supplied drugs to his girlfriend in exchange for sex.

The parole board has imposed several conditions including attending substance abuse treatment and counselling for domestic violence.

The Calgary Herald reports Bosklopper has had more than 20 convictions for violent offences since 1982, many involving women.
