It appears jealousy may have been the motive for a murder-suicide Friday night in Medicine Hat.

The victim, 44-year-old Aaron Matthew Eremenko, had apparently been dating his killer’s ex-wife.

Authorities believe 54-year-old Donald Wayne Neufeld shot Eremenko before turning the gun on himself.

Police in Medicine Hat tell the Calgary Sun, alcohol may have been a factor in the tragic incident since the two men were drinking together before tempers escalated.

Neither Eremenko or Neufeld had had any previous trouble with the law.
