The body of Lincoln Alexander will arrive at the Ontario legislature Sunday afternoon to lie in state, with the public welcome to come pay respects.

Alexander was Canada’s first black MP and later served six years as Ontario’s lieutenant governor.

He died Friday at the age of 90.

Premier Dalton McGuinty will greet members of Alexander’s family when his body arrives at Queen’s Park at approximately 12:30 p.m., after departing from Hamilton just after 10 p.m.

The procession will be escorted by members of the governor general’s horse guard and the Toronto Police Mounted Unit.

Invited guests will be allowed to pay their respects between 3-5 p.m. while the public will have the opportunity between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

On Monday the public will be able to pay their respects between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Main Legislative Building.
