A deadly evening in Medicine Hat has police investigating a suspected murder-suicide.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m Friday night, officers responded to a 911 call from someone at a home and when police entered the residence in the city’s southeast, found a man injured and shot.

He later died en route to hospital.

The man has been identified as Aaron Matthew Eremenko.

Inspector Glen Motz of Medicine Hat Police Services says the 44-year-old Eremenko, had been involved in an altercation in the home with a second man.

“When they (police) entered the home, found 54-year-old Donald Wayne Neufeld, also of Medicine Hat, deceased,” he said. “It is believed Neufeld died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

The Forensic Unit will be in the home Saturday processing the scene.

Motz added the two knew each other.

Autopsies on the bodies will be conducted in Calgary on Monday.
