RCMP are pleading to the Calgary and area public for any information that will lead to the arrest of two suspects in a break and enter which has shattered the peace of a Cochrane family.
Police are also hoping their plea will at least lead to the return of a laptop containing photos of a couple’s dead son.
Matthew Bienert died five years ago this month, because of a plane crash on Vancouver Island.
He was a flight instructor in his 20s.
Constable Peter Wood said despite the fact thousands of dollars worth of valuables were taken from the couple’s home, nothing can replace the family photos on the laptop.
He adds the timing of the crime makes it even worse.
“Being so close to the anniversary and them breaking in on the 18th and then they come home to find that the laptop’s gone and those were all the memories of their son,” he said.
Wood adds images of the men taken from a surveillance video during the crime have been released to the public and he adds public pleas have worked before.
“Just recently this year, the victim in a similar case had a laptop taken with pictures of a loved one who had passed,” he notes. “We had the same plea out to the public and the laptop turned up.”
One suspect is described as light in skin colour, about six feet tall with a slim build and short dark hair.
He was also wearing a black jacket, light-coloured jeans, a grey and black cap, black Puma shoes with a white stripe and a black backpack.
The second is also light in skin colour about 5’10″, with a slim build short dark hair.
He was seen wearing an orange construction safety vest, a grey, white and black hoodie, dark-coloured jeans and white Puma shoes with a black stripe.
