Residents in Bowness will be celebrating the grand opening of their new library Saturday.

“Right on Bowness Road, it’s in the former community landmark building of Bow Cycle Motor Sports,” the Public Library’s April Ganger tells 660News of the location of the new facility. “It’s larger.  It’s brighter.  It comes with more study space, fresh collections, community break-out rooms.”

“It’s a much larger library,” Ganger continues, noting that the new library replaces the old one that was tucked away in a strip mall. “We’re also able to expand our collection, so there’s more DVD’s. We carry Blu Rays as well and of course books and other materials.  It also has built-in two break-out rooms for a lot of our Calgary Public Library programs.”

The ribbon cutting for the new library takes place at 10am Saturday.

There are family friend activities taking place until 3pm, including storytime, face painting and refreshments.
