The bill for two new hospitals in the southern part of the province has now ballooned an extra $35-million, and the Redford government is promising to find the cash.
Alberta unveiled plans $350-million in expansions in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge Thursday, which will mean more space for emergency departments, outpatient care and surgery.
The extra costs come as the government is trying to keep spending under control.
Finance Minister Doug Horner tells The Calgary Herald the province’s deficit in the first quarter could be as high as $3-billion this year.
