Obama or Romney: who is better for Canada?

An expert in Canada-U.S. relations doubts the outcome of the November 6th presidential election south of the border will have much of an impact on the Great White North.

Chris Sands, the senior fellow with Washington-based Hudson Institute, says Canadians more closely identify with Democrat President Barrack Obama because his politics are more centrist.

However, Sands says the policy platforms that have been rolled out so far during the campaign by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have been more Canadian friendly, especially when it comes to the approval of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.

Sands tells 660News at the end of the day, Americans will base their vote on who they think has the best plan to turn around the economy.

As for the impact the vote will have on Canada, he says it’s like comparing diet Coke to diet Pepsi; there might be a taste difference, but neither will greatly alter relations or trade between the two countries.
