The Calgary Board of Education is on the defensive after an employee’s laptop containing the 2009 report card information of 2,000 students was recently stolen from a vehicle.

Authorities were notified of the theft back on October 5th, but only in the past couple of days have the parents of the students involved been informed of what happened.

One such parent, is Natalie.

In order to protect her 9-year-old daughter, Natalie has asked 660News not to release her last name.

She says she was given the run around, while trying to find out more about the theft.

Natalie is asking for not only the employee involved to issue an apology but to be removed from the handling of sensitive information for six months to a year.

The report card information not only includes grades, but classroom and behavioural comments, a photo of the student as well as their address and student identification number.

Natalie says she has not talked to her child about it because she shouldn’t have to deal with the adult problem of identity theft.
