Canadians are opening up about what goes on in the boudoir, thanks in part to a very popular book.
Fifty Shades of Grey, by E.L. James, is lighting up not only the bestseller list but also bedrooms from coast to coast.
According to an exclusive Sun Media poll on sex, 23 per cent of Canadians have tried some sort of bondage or S&M, one in ten have had sex in the office and one quarter aren’t opposed to hooking up online.
The survey also finds women want a sense of humour in their ideal man, and that’s followed up by great eyes and broad shoulders.
Men, on the other hand, are hoping their perfect gal has a sense of humour, a nice behind and a big chest.
Sexual healer, coach and educator, Gaia Morrissette, says she’s definitely seen a shift in her line of work.
“It’s given women permission to talk about sex,” she tells 660News. “And everyone’s doing it, so therefore I can do it too, so it feels safe.”
But she adds says it’s fantasy erotica and warns women not to take it as a manual, describing the two protagonists as very unhealthy.
“I’ve often said when I’ve been talking about these books, that if I had these two people in front of me as clients, it would take me forever to try and fix their relationship,” Morrissette explains.
“Since the books have blown up, that’s when I started to see more of a societal shift, but secretly we’ve all always wanted to talk about it.”
Results of the poll also found purple coloured bedrooms get the most loving while grey coloured bedrooms need some help.
