Calgary is searching for new cemetery space.
The city maintains five graveyards but only has around eight years left of plots to bury the deceased.
According to The National Post, Queen’s Park in the northwest is the only option in the city that still has casket space; most other cemeteries only provide opportunity for cremation.
Council is looking into a proposal that would see 65 acres of new cemetery plots that would be nearby Ralph Klein Legacy Park in the southeast
However, some are concerned about how the use of the space would affect neighbours.
The motion is expected to come back around to council in January.
