Ever feel pressured to get that Halloween costume together in time, without much effort and shelling out the big bucks?
Scott Bennie, owner of Don’s Hobby Shop and Theatrical Supplies on Centre Street, said there’s still plenty of time to carve out those creative ideas, along with your pumpkin.
He’s been in the dress-up business for years and he says his store is busiest at this time of year.
He said each year has a standout theme usually based on popular movies and the hottest trend for 2012 takes a cue from The Avengers, and there are always options for those who feel they’re running out of time to get a costume ready.
“I would look at getting something like a wig that makes you look dramatically different than what you see in the mirror,” he said. “That’s the whole idea — to make yourself look different and have fun with it.”
If a wig’s not your thing, slapping on some ghoulish makeup and being a zombie is an easy task.
Shopper Nikki Brown said for her it’s a choice between a $35 ladybug costume or loveable Elmo for $65 and she’s leaning towards the pricier muppet.
“It’s only once a year, money’s no object, do it up,” she said.
