A 35-year-old man has died following a crash on southbound Deerfoot Trail just past the McKnight Boulevard overpass in the N.E.

EMS and Calgary Police confirm the fatality happened just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday when his Saab travelled off the road onto a median and hit a metal pole.

Duty Staff Sgt. Dean Vegso tells 660News, the traffic department continues to investigate and they aren’t ruling them out, but speed, alcohol or road conditions don’t appear to be factors in the crash.

Southbound Deerfoot Trail was closed between McKnight Blvd. and 32 Ave., N.E. for several hours.
