An ex-Calgary Stampeders all-star has pleaded not guilty to assault charges, allegedly involving a youth two months ago.
Police say Freddie Childress used a leather belt in the incident; no details on injuries have been released.
According to The Calgary Herald, the 45-year-old was arrested in Southeast Calgary last month. He’s now out on bail.
He played for the Stamps from 1996 until 2003, and then retired as a Saskatchewan Roughrider in 2006.
