Meika Jordan’s mother Kyla Guttman says it is bittersweet to see the two charged in her daughter’s death.

The six-year-old’s biological father and step mother are charged with second degree murder and made their first court appearance on the charge Tuesday morning.

Guttman says it’s good to know the wheels of justice are finally turning.

“It is closure on one hand but on the other hand they’re still not officially behind bars for any amount of time right now so I think once that final day comes, (it) will be the best thing for everybody,” said Guttman.

Meika died in hospital in November, 2011 after suffering blunt force trauma to her head and abdomen and severe burns to her hand and fingers at her father’s home in Temple.

Spencer Lee Jordan and his common-law wife Marie Magoon are due back in court October 26th.
