A charter bus from Toronto, carrying about 60 people, overturned on an interstate in northern New Jersey Saturday morning.

New Jersey Police told 680News that at least nine people were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rescue workers had to extract several injured persons from the bus.

Police said the bus is registered to a Toronto address and reports indicate it was headed toward New York City.

It is unclear why the bus, which was chartered by Max 2000 Charter Services, flipped over.
