Calgary may have its 13th homicide of the year.

Police were called to 4th Street and 14th Avenue, S.W. in Mission Saturday morning around 4:00 after reports of a disturbance.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 20′s dead.

A large area was taped-off as homicide investigators searched for clues.

At an intersection just north of the original crime scene, yellow tape surrounded a damaged SUV and what appeared to be a large pool of blood.

However, acting Staff Sergeant Todd McNutt says, the two scenes are not related.

“At this point in the investigation, we’ve determined the second scene is not a part of the primary investigation. If further things develop, we’ll certainly investigate that,” explains McNutt.

Police believe the secondary scene is the location of a hit-and-run, though McNutt would say nothing more than that.

He also says a chalk drawing found nearby stating “murder was the case” is believed to be graffiti and is not related to either crime scene.

An autopsy to determine the young man’s cause of death has yet to be scheduled, and investigators are talking to a number of witnesses about the reported disturbance which may have led to the death.
