A charter bus from Toronto, carrying about 60 people, overturned on an interstate in northern New Jersey Saturday morning.
In a statement, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, a state designated trauma center in New Jersey, said they are caring for eight patients in critical condition.
Another four were injured and are listed in fair condition.
Rescue workers had to extract several injured persons from the bus.
Police said the bus is registered to a Toronto address and reports indicate it was headed toward New York City.
It is unclear why the bus, which was chartered by Max 2000 Charter Services, flipped over.
Photos from the scene show the bus on its side at the bottom of an embankment where a ramp is wrapped around.
