Calgary Police are searching for a suspect after a man was chased down by a mob on a city street Friday night, then stabbed numerous times in the back.
According to Duty Inspector Paul Stacey, it happened around 6:30 Friday evening in the 100 block of 13th Avenue Northwest.
“We had a report from witnesses that a group of males were seen chasing a male victim down the street,” Stacey tells 660News. “One of them caught up to the male and stabbed him multiple times in the back. We” (learned) “from the witnesses all the men that were chasing him ran away.”
So far no arrests have been made.
“We conducted some aerial searches and we weren’t able to come up with anybody,” adds Stacey. “They left the victim lying on the sidewalk, bleeding. When we arrived he had lost a fair amount of blood. EMS transported him to the hospital in serious but stable condition.”
Despite the fact police have little to work with at this point, Stacey says his officers have other avenues they can turn to in their investigation.
“Number 1 to scan the area to see if there’s any video of the assault that may help in solving it,” he notes. “Number 2, probably the most important and substantial, will be to actually interview the victim.”
