A turkey feast will be had by many this long weekend and if it includes cooking your bird with a deep fryer, CSA Group wants to make sure you do it safely.
Spokesperson Anthony Toderian tells 660News in the rare case of a fire don’t be afraid to call 9-1-1.
“Do not try and put it out yourself with a hose because we’re dealing with hot, burning oil, so if you use a hose on it, you’re just going to spread the fire,” says Toderian. “In most cases a small household fire may not be enough to extinguish that fire.”
Toderian adds possible causes of a blaze include overfilling the oil level, trying to cook a bird that isn’t fully thawed and letting the temperature rise above 400 degrees fahrenheit.
