Calgary’s mayor is kicking off National Depression Screening Day by taking the test himself.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi is attending a breakfast sponsored by the Calgary Counselling Centre Thursday morning at Ranchman’s.

The breakfast will include a panel discussion on how depression impacts individuals and what businesses and schools can do to help.

The mayor will also be taking an online test for depression in front of an audience.

Dr. Robbie Wagner from the Calgary Counselling Centre says testing for depression is important for every Calgarian and can save lives.
