Calgary Police have released new information about a shooting death in the southeast community of Applewood.
The man in his 20′s was found dead on the street of Applefield Close just before 3:30 Sunday morning after reports of gunshots in the area.
The Homicide unit is leading the investigation and say several people have been questioned and are co-operating.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News these investigations take some time so not many details are being released right now.
“Any of these major investigations that begin, there’s a lot of gathering of information. Then the homicide unit detectives need to sit down and make sense of it all and then determine where to take the investigation next. That’s where we’re at right now.” confirms Stacey.
Stacey talks about why investigators believe this was a targeted attack.
“It has to be something that the homicide unit has in their back pocket that are leaning them towards some course in the investigation. Honestly speaking, I guess what we can take away from that is it’s not a random act of violence and the public at large does not need to be concerned.” said Stacey.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
