As part of this year’s Cultural Capital of Canada activities, Calgarians are celebrating the “Lip Dub” experience by making a music video at Olympic Plaza.

A “Lip Dub” is a type of video that combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video.

The video was shot live at the plaza which featured the Cultural Capital of Canada theme song “Sweet City Woman” by the band The Stampeders.

Alberta Culture Minister Heather Klimchuk tells 660News the event is a great way to welcome new Albertans.

“It’s incredible and they’re being embraced all over Alberta in our small towns or smaller cities and our big cities,” she says. “Events like this bring people together and we can share and understand where we all come from. That’s when the magic happens and that’s why the whole world wants to come to Alberta.”

Bret “The Hitman” Hart was in attendance. He tells 660News he enjoyed hearing “Sweet City Woman” during the music video.

“Well I’m a very proud Calgarian and the simple truth of it is that I was always a big fan of the song, brings back a lot of childhood memories for me. If you go back far enough, you realize that The Stampeders are one of the most successful bands from Calgary,” Hart says.

Many events are taking place around the province Saturday and Sunday in honour of Calgary being named the Cultural Capitol of Canada.
