The launch of a new app in Toronto is expected to change the landscape of the Canadian taxi industry forever.

More than 400 thousand people in London, England have already downloaded the Hailo app, which allows them to use their smartphone to book and pay for a cab ride.

The President of the Checker Transportation Group in Calgary tells 660News they are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience.

Kurt Enders says young people are using their smartphones for everything, so it only makes sense the industry embrace new technology.

 No word when Hailo or a similar service will be available in Calgary, but cab riders would love to see something like that up and running ahead of the always busy Christmas party season.
