The Calgary Zoo is welcoming a new addition to its hippo family.
6-year-old ‘Ghost’ has arrived from the Granby Zoo in Quebec.
Keepers at the zoo say while ‘Ghost’ gets used to his new home, he may not always be available to be viewed by the public.
New animals usually are quarantined for 30 days, but Curator Jamie Dorgan says they’ve made an exception so that ‘Ghost’ can meet the zoo’s other hippo, ‘Sparky’.
Officials hope ‘Ghost’ will soon become a favourite attraction in the zoo’s African Savannah.
Ghost is being brought in to replace the spot of the Zoo’s oldest resident hippo, Foggy who passed away last month.
