The city is highlighting the need to upgrade drainage systems in older Calgary neighbourhoods.
In a report to a committee Wednesday, bureaucrats pushed for a need for finances to update the aging infrastructure in areas that experience frequent flooding.
Alderman Druh Farrell tells The Calgary Sun neighbourhoods like Rosemont and Sunnyside in the northwest have been dealing with severe flood damage for years.
Recent studies say $170-million is needed to replace out of date drainage systems in Calgary.
The recommendations will go to council for decision before the end of next year.
