A man has been struck by a train in the southwest near Shawnessy town centre.
It happened around 12:30 at 162nd Avenue and Macleod Trail near Bishop O’Byrne High School, but the Fire Department says the adult male victim is likely not a student.
Fire officials say the man was walking along the tracks when he was struck.
He then fell down an embankment and was found in a pond; STARS air ambulance was needed to transport him to hospital.
EMS says he suffered critical injuries including head trauma.
CP Rail Spokesman Ed Greenberg tells 660News they’re investigating how the man ended up on the tracks.
Traffic was blocked on 162nd Avenue for around an hour but the scene has since been cleaned up.
